My new book’s coming out!
Don’t worry I’m not gonna try to coax you into buying a copy (although if you wanted to buy one I wouldn’t stop you either:)). But that’s not the purpose of this post.
“Well, what is the purpose Mike?!” Hold on now…I’m gonna get to that! Sheesh!
On LinkedIn I sent out a message to my contacts (most of them bloggers) and asked if they’d be willing to do a review of my book. I thought maybe a few people (emphasis on the word “few”) would be interested-but was SHOCKED at all the responses from people saying they’d be happy to do it. So I thought: why not ask the readers of the blog the same thing?
I must admit, though, the idea wasn’t original. It was the strategy Tim Ferris used to get the word out about his book. But…I’m just doing what the Bible told me to do: “Intelligent people are always open to new ideas. In fact, they look for them.” [1]
And so now I come to you my readers (and blog friends) with the same proposition: would you be willing to do a review of my upcoming book? Here’s how it would work: I’d send you a FREE copy, you’d read it, and HONESTLY review it on your blog (your thoughts—good or bad).
With all the marketing strategies, concepts, fads, and etc…NOTHING…absolutely nothing can compare to good ‘ole fashioned word-of mouth. Disagree? Well let me ask you a couple of questions:
- Did Jesus build His ministry with a SWOT analysis?
- Aren’t there movies with multimillion dollar marketing budgets that still flop?
- How many companies have spent millions in advertising with nothing to show for it?
Word-of-mouth is the best form of marketing—period! (Disclaimer: this is not to say all marketing techniques are bad…I am saying word-of mouth is the best:) )
If you’re interested post your comment.
Be blessed!
