It’s simple. To reset things. At least that’s what John Hope Bryant, founder and chairman of Operation Hope, said in a recent blog post. For the past decade or so business titans were focused on one thing: “What more can I get?”
Resources were poorly allocated, greed was at the forefront, and service on the backburner so God said, “Reset!”
Recessions are resets in disguise.
I know that sounds kinda of depressing and I really try to be an encouraging guy, but the Bible says:
“Notice the way God does things; then fall into line. Don’t fight the ways of God, for who can straighten out what He has made crooked? Enjoy prosperity while you can. But when hard times strike, realize that both come from God. That way you will realize that nothing is certain in this life.” [1]
It’s all a reset.
Nations, like companies and ministries, rise and fall. The stronger (and wiser) will endure and prosper, the weaker will make way for the stronger.
Pride has been checked, injustices have been revealed, poor stewardship exposed, and things done in the dark have been brought to light.
Many have us lost our jobs…but many of them weren’t jobs we were supposed to have. We’ve grown closer to God, we’ve given Him more time, and we’ve sought His direction more than ever.
It’s all been a reset.
So what do we do in the middle of this recession (or resetting)?
Endure it.
Cling to God like never before. Bring to fruition those pushed aside dreams. Embrace the things that REALLY matter. Seek your individual purpose. Stir up your gifts. Serve others. And when the time comes, the God Who sees what you do “in secret will Himself reward you openly.” [2]
It’s all a reset. Embrace the reset and the Resetter.
