Do you want to take your business to the next level? Are you ready to make that first million and live the good life? What if I told you that the key to getting it is actually easier than you thought?

The Key to Success

For the record, I’m not a millionaire – far from it. But, I know God will take me there and beyond if I exercise one of the most important Biblical principals of success. You can find it in Matthew 25:23 – it reads (New International Version);

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”

Entrepreneurial Success

That powerful scripture reveals that faithfulness is the ultimate key to success. It doesn’t just take determination, preparation, drive, or the myriad of other principles we like to chase . . . you really have to put your hand to the plow and stay faithful to it. It’s not easy being an entrepreneur, on top of worrying about cash flow, clientele, and bills you we also have to live a natural life. It can be stressful not making the kind of money you dream of with your business.

However, if we stay faithful with the vision God has given us He’ll put us in charge of even more. It’s really simple and very easy to achieve. Here are a few thoughts on how you can be faithful with the few things He’s given you;

  • Be Consistent – You have to stay consistent with your business. That means, giving excellent customer service, producing quality, and delivering value to customers. Don’t let up no matter how low sales may be. Keep pushing towards consistency. . . it breeds success!
  • Maximize Your Tools – I always say that if, God gave you a vision He’ll give you the tools you need to succeed. Don’t discard things that you can repurpose for your business. Use every piece of equipment, tool, or resource at your disposal until the Lord blesses you with more. I even put together some resources that help me do what I do for you on this page.
  • Pray – Staying in constant communication with the one that will ultimately promote you is key. Pray for God to extend your boundaries, to bless the work of your hands, and meet every need. Doing so lets Him know that you’re in it for the right reasons and you want to succeed with Him at the helm.
  • Be Thankful – Thanking and praising God for what you have and where you’re going keeps your spirits high when things get rough. It charges the atmosphere and manifests His goodness in your life.
  • Speak the Word – Did you know that God’s Word can’t be returned void? That means that He’s got to act on it, because He said it! He has to prove that He is God and thus, when you speak His word, He’s got to manifest it in your life. Here’s a great web page that lists faith confessions that cover prosperity.

So, remember, stay faithful with your entrepreneurial assignment. If you have a brick-and-mortar store, online store, blog, consultancy, or service oriented business . . . stick with it. At one point in my life I was Rod “the serial entrepreneur” and now I’m Rod “the success coach.”

However, as I stay faithful as a success coach the windows of Heaven open wider for me everyday. What would you add to this list? Did I miss anything? What are you trying to stay faithful at? Give yourself a shout out in the comments below.

  • So many great point, where does one start to even comment.

I can say that as a woman who battled heavy depression while running a business, it is so very important that you learn to use the Word to stay on course, focused, and affirmed!

I have found that the word does not return to him void and when you expect from Him and Him alone He will supply.

Great post Rod! You are becoming a guest blogging rock star huh? Well you know I am your #1 groupie and I follow you in stealth mode quite often :)
  • Absolutely LaTara! The word is what keeps up focused and helps to fight the negative thoughts that assault us everyday. I know for me personally, sometime I have to quote Scriptures a hundred times a day just to keep my mind on the positive side and to "bring every thought into the obedience of Christ."

Groupie huh? You better make sure your husband doesn't get wind of this lol!
  • LOL!!! Mike he knows all about Rod and how I think he is one of the most level headed young men I have met in years.
  • Rod
Sorry, I'm late in responding to this but, I love the idea of "social media groupies," thank you very much . . . hehe
  • HA! I figured you would :)
  • Oh...ok...just checking :)
  • Although I think it's implied in "faithfulness," I'd like to add patience. So many people are impatient - they want everything now and if they can't get it now, then forget it! I've been trying my hardest to practice patience when it comes to my blog and I'm so glad I stuck with it. It's been helping me to open doors that wouldn't have been possible otherwise. On some days when I feel like my little corner of the internet is being ignored - but I don't let that stop me - I write as if I have an audience of millions - because you never know, maybe one day I will be writing for that audience.
Thanks for sharing this inspiring post - it really hit the spot! :)
  • Absolutely Kiesha!

Your comment struck a nerve with me because I am battling impatience: I want what I see NOW! But like Zig Ziglar once said, "The difference between a little shot and a big shot is that the little shot kept shooting."
  • Whenever I get impatient and want to give up - I find something to fix on my blog, I'll re-evaluate what I've been doing and try something new - I'll visit a totally off topic blog and comment (somehow I end up meeting a whole new batch of people) OR I'll do some research, I call that my "self-education class" and I'm amazed every time I do this because I always learn something new that I've been missing - then I gradually act on what I've learned.
But no matter what I don't let myself quit. My blog is getting ready to be a year old, yet it's the work I've done in the last 3 months that kicked my ranking from approx 800,000 to approx 344,000. When I don't see any other progress if I can just increase my ranking I feel better.
I encourage you to keep chugging along and when impatience hits, redirect your attention to some of these tasks I've mentioned.
    Be blessed!
  • Thank you! I will definitely be blessed with all the advice just given:)
  • Rod, excellent post! I really like the paradigm of approaching being an entrepeneur from the perspective of the faithful steward. Because if we have that paradigm in mind, we will have the right values and approach to the business, the customers, and our employees.

Mike, by the way, I received your book, and will be digging into it soon! :)
  • Steve, Rod did a great job! Because when you think of it that's all we really are:stewards. God owns everything!

And I'm glad you got the book! I look forward to the review:)
  • LOL! I scrolled down and saw those flashy pearly whites smiling at me and thought Mike had updated his pic, but then I realized it was you Rod. I'm starting to see you all over the place now!

I love the 5 bullet points you listed. I think the one that often gets overlooked is being thankful. There are so many millionaires and billionaires who can't find happiness with all their wealth because they never learned to be thankful for what they had.

Great post as usual, just in a different place. ;)
  • Rod
Thanks, Brad - I'm spreadin my pearly whites around a bit more this year. Being thankful is definitely overlooked. It's amazing that if we thank Him for what we have and what we don't have, He'll bless us with more of what we need.
  • Brad, can you really get enough of those pearly whites? LOL!
  • Rod
There you go! I'm with you, Mike!
  • The importance of gratitude and God cannot be underestimated. When we align ourselves with a higher power, there is nothing to stop us from achieving our dreams.
  • Rod
Thanks for commenting, Steven, you couldn't have said it any better - if God is for us, who can be against us, and who can certainly stop us?
  • Absolutely!!

I did a post: "How Gratitude Goes to the bottom Line?" http://raisetheeup.com/2009/11/26/how-gratitude-goes-to-the-bottom-line-2/ I believe that gratitude opens a door that grumbling never could
